Walk Like A Pirate is a 12 mile walk along the beautiful River Lea and Regent’s canal, from Tottenham Hale to Camden and finishing with a party at The Pirate Castle. This year it will be running on Saturday 26th May, starting at 12pm – and finishing when the last stragglers at the party can take no more!

This year we will be raising money for a fund to improve The Pirate Castle itself and make it even better for all of our members and users! As a small charity with an aging Castle building, we often find that it is much easier to raise money for new projects – than it is to fund improvements to benefit our current members and users. Proposed works currently include:

• Sliding screen for main hall so that space can be used to two groups simultaneously
• Improvements to the effectiveness of our heating system and additional controls. These will make the building more cosy and comfortable, but will also save us money and decrease our carbon footprint
• Radiating heaters to be added to changing rooms
• Refurbishment of several toilets
• Completion of audio visual system for main hall
• Further improvements to our accessibility

Walk Like A Pirate is a sponsored event, but we ask for no minimum level of sponsorship. We simply ask that you come and walk with us, either in pirate fancy dress or in one of our special WLAP T-shirts. This event is designed to raise awareness of us as a charity as well as cold hard cash, so we want people who are prepared to get stuck in, have fun and really talk with and engage people along the way.
