Eco-cosmetics company Lush put on a pretty horrific show during the week to highlight the cruelty involved in animal testing for cosmetics. Be warned, it’s a fairly disgusting video – so don’t watch if you don’t like deliberately confronting “performance art” that might make you feel a bit ill.
Lush describe this as “Graphic scenes of a performance artiste undergoing animal laboratory tests in the window of Lush Regent Street London, to raise awareness of our worldwide Fighting Animal Testing campaign and EU petition. Please, join the fight by signing our petition here: http://www.fightinganimaltesting.com”
Some are not happy with the campaign. I find myself sympathising with Laura Woodhouse from the F-Word on this who feels this is an unnecessarily sensationalist way to highlight the issue, reminiscent of the Peta campaigns that seem to be as much about naked ladies as they are about making the world meat-free.
