SPEAKERS CONFIRMED:
Jenny Jones, Green Party London Mayoral Candidate and London Assembly member.
Alan Andrews, lawyer for Air Quality issues at Client Earth
Join us for a rally, protest and the declaration of London’s first true Clean Air Zone. We’ll hear speeches before walking and wheeling together through London’s dirty streets, finding an area to declare our clean air zone and transforming it into London’s cleanest road!
Dangerous air quality is a major contributor to climate change (not to mention the immediate poor health impact): black carbon and methane contribute as much as 25-30% to climate change emissions and kill up to 2.5 million people globally each year. By cleaning up our air quality, we are reducing our climate emissions.
Every year more than 4,000 Londoners die from an entirely preventable health risk. Our air quality is a silent killer and makes London’s pollution levels amongst the worst in Europe. We need to spring clean London’s air – to make our city ready for the Olympics and to show the mayoral candidates the job they should be doing!
Imagine a road with no cars, no toxic fumes, a safe space for children to play, cyclists to ride and pedestrians to walk. Bring a feather-duster, children’s games, food for a picnic and help make this spring clean vision happen.
