Big Smoke went online in the second half of November last year so we’re coming up to six months of beavering away in our favourite city. To celebrate our existence, and to make up for the fact we never properly launched the site before hitting the national headlines we’re having a wine and twiglets launch next Friday, 30th March, in Camden Town Hall.

If you fancy coming along, drop us a quick email at editorial@bigsmoke.org.uk and we’ll try to squeeze you in.

We’re happy with the modest contribution we’ve made so far discussing community issues, London politics, interviewing the great and the good and anything that takes our fancy really but we are planning to step up a gear with a wider range of contributors and some focused campaigns on issues we think people should care about.

If you’d like to help contribute to those debates and discussions, or simply would like us to shout out about your news, please do feel free to get in touch. That address again editorial@bigsmoke.org.uk.

See you at the launch!

Do hope – as per your name! – you’ll put London’s air-quality top of your agenda. The source of the capital’s air-pollution may have changed – from coal-fired chimneys to road transport – but the consequences are just as bad: around 4,500 extra deaths a year, and many time more suffering from asthma and poor cardiac health.

Suggest an interview with Clean Air London’s founder and resolute campaigner, Simon Burkett, and a round-up of what the capital’s boroughs are doing to highlight and mitigate this massive issue in their local areas.

    All the best.
