National charity Living Streets have organised a transport question time for the 2012 Mayoral elections. In partnership with Campaign for Better Transport and Movement for Liveable London, Living Streets aims to ensure transport remains a key issue in the run-up to May’s Mayoral elections.
The hustings will be an opportunity to quiz Mayoral candidates on how they intend to keep London moving over the next four years and create a safer, cleaner and better London for everyone. Packed and expensive public transport, an increasingly vocal pedestrian and cycling community and forecasts of transport chaos during the Olympics are just some of the issues for debate.
All aspects of London transport will be considered, with an emphasis on improving conditions for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport users. Our aim is to stimulate a wide debate about how the conflicting needs of different transport users can be managed to improve quality of life and the efficiency of London’s transport network.
The audience will be asked to submit questions in advance. Questions will be selected to ensure a wide coverage of issues, including at least one question on each of the partner organisations’ specific campaign themes.
Living Streets continues to work with its supporters towards creating better places to live and walk. The campaign for A City of 20 is growing in support, and the hustings event promises to take the issue of transport in our city to the heart of the London Mayoral elections.
