What’s tickling Big Smoke?

Those who follow Big Smoke will be au fait with Wolfgang Moneypenny’s campaign to run for London mayor. If not – shame on you – he’s the South London separatist calling for the reversal of gentrification and redevelopment projects, and for state funding for Dulwich Hamlet FC. Anything to lift the mood in these hard times is fine by us. So here are some stories we thought you might be interested in.

1. A chicken has been following Boris Johnson around London.
2. Ken Livingstone’s election campaign really got going earlier this month with this ad.
3. Team Ken also came out with this spoof ‘postcard to Londoners’ from Boris. It might well have struck a chord with some voters.
4. As Londoners faced another new year of fare increases, the Mayor was off skiing in a luxury Italian resort. Polls have shown Ken is now 2% ahead of Boris.
5. It seems Waitrose are also marketing geniuses.
6. There was outrage on Thursday as the New Camden Journal broke a story about a secret plan to build a giant replica of the Rio De Janeiro statue of Christ The Redeemer close to the summit of Primrose Hill.  Primrose Hill was soon trending (globally!) on Twitter. One local resident branded the plans an act of ‘landscape hooliganism’. Quite.
